Have you ever envied the President and his family for having a cadre of
secret service agents protecting them 24 hours a day? Don't you wish you could
have such protection for your home and family? Well, it is not likely that you
will get secret service agents to be at your beck and call. The best you may
able to do would be having a pack of Dobermans to patrol your home, but that
would bring with it a lot of inconvenience as well. Just think of the cleaning
up you would have to do. But 24-hour protection for your home is still possible
if you install a network of home security cameras. These will give you the
ability to actively monitor your home entry points from a safe indoor vantage
point and give you a sense of security and reassurance.
You may already have installed a regular security system with an alarm, and
that is an excellent first step. But it makes a great deal of sense to ally the
alarm system with a security camera network. In fact, cameras may even provide a
greater deterrent than an alarm system at times. There are some professional
burglars who are not easily deterred by warning stickers announcing that a home
is protected by an alarm, but a bank of surveillance cameras will make anyone
think twice about trying to enter your property. A triggered alarm will send an
intruder scurrying off, but a home security camera system will deter him from
starting in on a break-in.
Besides the deterrent factor, a security camera system will let you monitor
your surroundings, an ability that cannot be underestimated. There is always the
potential for unwanted visitors to enter your home simply by ringing the
doorbell and getting you to open the door. If you have home security cameras
installed, you will be able to see exactly who is at your door from the safety
of an indoor room and if you do not like who you see, you can simply refuse to
grant them entry.
Another convenience of having home security cameras is being able to locate
them anywhere you want something monitored. You may have a particular area on
your property that you feel is vulnerable to forced entry, perhaps glass sliding
doors or a balcony. You can increase protection of these vulnerable spot by
having a security camera set up to monitor it from a visible vantage point. If a
prowler comes by, he will see the camera and that will tell him that it would
not be so easy to break in even the “weak spots of your home.
I think I've made my case about the security that surveillance cameras can
offer. If you have a system installed in your home, you will have the
reassurance that comes with being protected by an army of electronic eyes.
