No, this is not about the old Abbott and Costello routine, "Who's on First." But if it were, and if the ballpark had one of the video surveillance cameras we sell, you'd be able to see the ball player slide into first, as the umpire declares him safe. Safety. That's one of the reasons our customers purchase surveillance systems, but it's not the only one. Scenarios run the gamut from artistic creativity to zooming in on nature.

Cameras do not exist in a void. Users must consider such questions as "Which type of surveillance software will serve my needs?" How will we protect the camera from inclement weather? From the Sun? From vandals?

Since we started out with safety, let's see how you, the public, are being protected by the use of some of our cameras, software and hardware. If you happen to live in one Massachusetts city, your police department is deploying a variety of Sony cameras, ONSSI Net DVMS software and Videolarm enclosures in their war on drugs. Members of the narcotics unit are able to monitor the moves of drug dealers and thus make more efficient raids resulting in more arrests.

Or if you area resident of a major city in Tennessee, your police department is using our Network Attached Video Storage (NAS) system with ONSSI NetDVR software to control a network of video cameras set up in high crime areas and to store the resulting images.

Who among us has not grieved with the parents and students of Columbine High School in Colorado? It reminds us that "there, but by the grace of God......." Among the many school systems who decided to take preemptive action is one in Georgia. It has installed high resolution IQinvision cameras at all the entryways and corridors in its schools to be better aware of what is going on every minute of the school day.

Security is a concern at home as well. If you are a tenant in one rambling apartment complex in Florida, you'll rest better knowing that your landlord has installed Cameras along the winding paths and in the parking areas as well as at all the indoor entrance areas. This individual believed in variety, choosing to install a little bit of everything, cameras from IQinvision, Sony, Vivotek, and Axis, all controlled by ONSSI software. A tenant living there will appreciate the security she feels from the moment she leaves her car right up to that contented sigh as she enters her apartment after a long day at work - "ahh, it feels good to be home."

The popularity of medical shows like ER, House, and the old St. Elsewhere have made "Code Blue" part of everyday language. Everyone knows that within nanoseconds of those urgent words broadcasting through the PA system, medical personnel will swarm into the Intensive care unit or hospital room. What if one nurse in a central station could watch the ICU monitors of all the patients as other nurses attend to their individual patients needs? Wouldn't this enable them to remedy a situation before a Code Blue was necessary? One major healthcare system in Georgia is taking this step, utilizing ONSSI ProSight software and IQinVision cameras in their hospitals in several southern states.

A few enterprising customers have found they can solve their security issues and provide education or entertainment at the same time. One contractor in the suburbs of New York City is involved in the design and construction of an innovative house. He has found that by employing Softsite32 software, and mounting an IQinVision camera in a Pelco enclosure on site he can not only insure the safety of his construction equipment but can also give the public an opportunity to come to his website to watch the progress of this magnificent house.

In another serendipitous instance, a water utility company had to build a fishladder to so that fish could bypass a dam. The use of IQinVision camera guided them in the underwater phase. When they discovered the joy of viewing the fish "climbing: the ladder", they decided to share it with the world on their website.
And last but certainly not least, we have a customer employing a camera purely for the sake of art. He is an artist involved in painting sunsets in the UK. Oh yes, one small problem, he wanted to stay here on this side of the Atlantic to paint his landscapes. He had almost all the pieces in place, having already set up a webcam in England. This high resolution IQ camera was focused on a Claude mirror. Also known as a Claude Lorrain mirror (who is credit with its invention), this is a slightly convex piece of black glass that gives artists a condensed virtual image of whatever it is reflecting. The colors are muted, much like what we view through high quality sunglasses, allowing him to concentrate on the form and perspective of each changing scene. Sitting at his computer at home he is able to view these images reflected in real time. Kintronics was able to give him advice on software to help him be here there at the same time, and since his IQ camera would be set up in nature, help him in choosing an environmental enclosure from Aigis. As we speak (or read), he views the changing views via the camera and mirror.
